Hey there. How you doing? Um… so ya, I recently shot some promo photos for a band called Apparently Nothing. And apparently…. Aaron Shekey is good at everything - since he is the guy who also designed this here website… and is a rock star - makes sense - web nerd = rock star. No, but seriously he did a great job for both of my websites and I got a chance to check out his bands show after we did this photo shoot and they were good. And I can say that honestly after listening to more than 250 bands last year. If you ever get a chance to check them out - do it!

Hey, so last summer I shot a bunch of stuff for Jenny Dalton a local singer-songwriter and we got tons of great photos (I’ll catch-up with my photos at some point…), but I just got about 20 rolls of film back from being developed and freaked out. I love it. What do you think?
Here are some behind the scenes shots I took for a band called - A Farewell Rescue who are on Snapdragon Records. Local superstar music video director Justin Staggs and dopetastic producer Shane Nelson made yet another stellar video. You can check it out on Justin’s site here. As you can see they built a really long dolly track and had a good sized crew on hand to make this one rock your panties off. Word.
Last March I shot music video stills for the band Limbeck – the song was called - Big Drag and received some good play on places such as MTV (craptastic we don’t play music videos anymore…) and youtube. The video was produced by my bro Shane Nelson (check out his stuff… he is the top dog in the mid-west for music video production) and directed by local star of Motion City Soundtrack - Justin Pierre (Haha, just kidding Justin…).
This whole shoot was totally chill and the guys were great. It’s really nice to work with bands who are able to really put out the type of music they want, tour hard, and make it in the failing music game. I’m sure none of them are rich, but that’s not the point – these guys are making it happen doing what they love. And they sound good doing it too! Limbeck or Lim-pimps? Wait that doesn’t look right…

SXSW - 2007 - What a blast. I went down on a whim… not sure what else I had going on, but I def. skipped out on something. Anyway, here is a shot of Har Mar Superstar, Joe Purdy, Pete Townshend, Ghostland Observatory, Mohair, The Pipettes, The Fratellis, Cold War Kids, the Filter day party crowd, Steve and I 4-6-ish Lone Stars in (look at Steve’s eye), the Spiderhouse, a Gallery Lombardi art opening, a super dope drawing, somewhere along the way to TX, and Jesus forgiving my SXSW sins.
In all I shot the following bands during SXSW 2007:
Rosie Thomas, Scanners, Willowz, Har Mar Superstar, Stars of Track and Field, Martha, Wainwright, Art In Manila, Land of Talk, Rachel Fuller, Pete Townshend, Joe Purdy, Elvis Perkins, Cold War Kids, Architecture In Helsinki, Ghostland Observatory, What Made Milwaukee Famous, The Fratellis, Mew, Mando Diao, The Pipettes, Kate Havnevik, Mohair, and Youth Group. You can view more of my SXSW photos on my flickr page here.
It’s also worth noting I stayed at my good friend Natalie’s house, which at the time was as the Austin based recording studio The Still. The band Youth Group was recording a movie soundtrack there while we were staying there. Beyond this I’ve got plenty of good stories about my trip – but not ones that grandma should read about on a blog – so lets just leave it to that I had a good time.

These are some behind the scenes shots from the Messengers album cover photos shoot…. As you can see we managed to have some fun!!
